comment j’interprète le test de la balise PLB1 ?

Dans le doute, j'ai contacté le support d' Ocean Signal.

Il me confirme que le test indique que la batterie est pleine pu presque pleine, c'est le résultat attendu lorsque l'appareil est neuf. J'étais prêt à la changer moi-même mais tant mieux si je peux retarder l'opération.

We are sorry for the confusion our User Manual has caused. We are aware of this issue within the manual and are working to make this results table easier to understand.

The results from the beacon test indicates how much of the battery has been consumed so far.

The double flash of green is the correct and positive response from the PLB1. This indicates that you have a full to nearly full battery (the green flashes indicate that the battery has been used so far for between 0 and 59 minutes – once this is used for more than 1 hour, the flashes will change to amber). This is the expected result when a device is new.

To help guide you in the future, below we have broken down the steps of the two tests you will be completing on your PLB1:

Beacon Test

Check the beacon is functioning correctly, determine the battery health of the device.

Once a month.

Press and hold the ‘T’ button down until the LED light begins to flash red. You can then release the button.

This is only for a short period of time, maximum 2 seconds.

There will then be a short pause, followed by a white strobe flash of light.
The device will then communicate to you how much of the battery has been used.

This is through several flashes. You can find this on Page 9 of the attached User Manual.

The flash sequence is repeated after a short delay, therefore 2 green flashes (1 flash, followed by a repeated flash) is 0-1hr of battery use.

The device will then turn off.

GPS Test

(Page 10 in User Manual)

To determine if the PLB1 can transmit and successfully obtain a GPS position.

Maximum of once a year.

Press and hold the ‘T’ button while the red LED flashes (for 10 seconds), until the flashes stop and change into a steady colour of red. You can then release the button.

1) The following flash sequence (steps a and b) will be repeated until the GPS position is obtained

One long flash of red
One short flash of green
Please note that this process can take up to several minutes.

2a) A successful test is indicated by a white strobe flash, followed by the LED flashing green several times.

The number of green flashes = the amount of remaining GPS tests + one additional flash (for example, 8 flashes mean there are 7 tests remaining).

2b) If a GPS position has not been obtained, the LED will flash red, indicating a failure.

3) The device will then turn off.
